Feeding stray dogs, the right way

Choose a quiet, protected spot to feed the dog/s. Choose the same place and time every day. Don't throw food at them, but place it on the ground (free of pebbles / sand).
Give them home-cooked food like plain soft boiled rice, rotis / chapatis, eggs, boiled cooled down vegetables with a little bit of ghee. If you give milk, always dilute it with fresh water (50/50). If you do not cook food for yourself, just get dry food / kibbles, such as Chappy at Rs 500 for 3 kg.
Dogs should not be fed spicy, sweet, deep fried, too oily or salty food as it is extremely harmful for them. Also avoid chocolate, biscuits and other sweetened treats. They can dramatically escalate the blood pressure in the dog’s body, which could result in failure of vital organs and the nervous system.
Provide fresh water (in a simple plastic bowl for example).
NOTE: If you don’t plan to be consistent in feeding stray dogs, it is better to not start at all. Remain consistent especially with younger dogs / puppies as they become dependent on you.
