Where we are now: A little update from Love for Dogs

A few years ago, we started this initiative with a lot of enthusiasm and a simple aim: to contribute to raising awareness about the lives of stray dogs in India and to help dogs on the streets through our street ambulance.
We were always a very small team – essentially three people – and over time, without enough funding, volunteers or staff, it became impossible to continue the work at the level we had hoped.
Another terrible wave of dog poisonings in Tiruvannamalai also made us pause and reflect on what we could realistically do, and how.
So while Love for Dogs is much quieter these days, the work hasn’t disappeared completely.
Mina, who founded Love for Dogs, now continues on a small, personal scale in Uttarakhand – talking with local people about how to take care of stray dogs and helping dogs whenever and however she can. Sometimes that means food or medicine, sometimes cuddles and a little company, and sometimes connecting a dog in serious need with a local vet or NGO. For older, very sick dogs, it can simply mean trying to make their remaining time a little more comfortable.
There is no large team or daily street ambulance behind the initiative at the moment, and our activity is limited. We wanted to be open about that rather than give the impression that Love for Dogs is operating as a big organisation.
But the reason it started is still very much there: a belief that the dogs living alongside us deserve kindness, care and more understanding.
For now, we’ll continue in the small ways we can. 🐾
