Ivermectin is commonly given as medicine to treat Menge. *BUT* it won't be effective without deworming the dog first. It is important to have the dog as parasite-free as possible.
Mange is caused by tiny external parasites called mites. Mites can lead to severe irritation of the skin which can significantly impact your dog's quality of life. Affected skin becomes scaly, red, and extremely itchy, and hair loss is also common.
As standard procedure for a. medium size dog (15-20kg) we recommend:
1. Deworm with medicine like Drontal (which eliminates also tapeworms) 2. Two - three days later: Neomec (Ivermectin) 3. Topical applications (powder) 4. After two weeks: repeat deworm medicine 5. Two - three days later: again Neomec (Ivermectin) 6. The following / third week, again Neomec (Ivermectin)
Please ask your local vet for exact dosage that suits the dog you want to help.
