New Delhi, India: The Prevention-of-Cruelty-to-Animal-Act-1960 got the long-due overhaul. In the past, criminals who killed innocent animals brutally got away with the old standard fine of mere 50 Rupees.
61 amendments were made to the law, and from now on Rs 2500 to 100000 fines as well as 2 to 5 years jail await offenders for animal cruelty.
